A year in review. Shauna looking back on 2021 and excited for 2022.
31st December 2021
In 2021 we continued to cope with the upset caused by the global pandemic. First and foremost as we look back on the year past I want to consider all of our members who lost loved ones during this time.
On the field we had a lot of success both at county level and club level. Our U16s won the Ulster Gold Championship, our Minors played in our first ever Platinum Final at that age group and our Seniors delivered an Ulster Junior Championship as well as a fantastic day in Croke Park. We also saw all our 2021 championships completed at all age groups and saw our county champions play brilliantly in the Ulster championships following.
This year we developed closer links with Camogie during the championship season, attempting to ensure that all dual players had the space to play both sports freely and we achieve this in the most part. I have already had meetings with Liam Valley, Antrim Camogie Chairperson and Ciaran McCavana about how we can form tighter links when it comes to fixtures and playing facilities.
A lot has been achieved in the 25 years since Antrim LGFA was set up and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve in the next 25 years.
We hope that next year will be a lot more settled and we can start to get back to normality – whatever that will be now. The County Executive are working on enhanced branding, promotion of Culture and Language and building on development as well as planning to host Congress in March.
For now though I hope you all enjoyed the break it is well deserved and desperately needed. I hope you have a happy and peaceful New Year and I look forward to seeing you all in 2022 – hopefully in person.
Stay Safe
Shauna
